What are some pain points in your day? How can we turn these into adventures?
“It is your choices that show what you truly are, far more than your abilities. Even when you fail, you can choose not to give up, but rather discover your courage, press forward, and rise up. That is the great test of the journey.” - President Dieter F. Uchtdorf (“Your Great Adventure” October 2019 General Conference)
Think of the story, The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein. This little hobbit was very happy and comfortable eating lots of food, gardening and relaxing his life away. Then he was invited on an adventure, and something in his heart wouldn’t let him pass up this experience. As he was on the adventure, things were always fun and rosey. There were trolls, dragons and huge scary spiders in his way. But he made it through and gained so much self confidence from that experience. (Grab the movie here)
Some really great tips on how to receive personal revelation from God to help you in your adventures, come from our past podcast guest: Niki Olsen, episode #78.
Jamee Andelin has given us some really great suggestions on how to take charge of our thoughts in episode #56. On her podcast, Coaching with Jamee, this week she had a great episode (#55) entitled, “Creating Your Reality”. I really liked it because she talked about putting a spin on your pain points. How can we make these pain points fun? How can we turn something that has been really hard or emotionally charged into something fun that we enjoy? I love her ideas about this.
An example she gave was if you were trying to lose weight, instead of being sad and distraught about it, think of all the wonderful healthy foods that you enjoy that you like to eat. That really clicked for me! Because I do love eating healthy food! If you’re in this boat as well, try some of these recipes out. My favorites this week have been our Cranberry Pecan Sweet Potato Bowls, Antipasto Salad and Thai Chicken Salad.

It is the plain and very sobering truth that before great moments, certainly before great spiritual moments, there can come adversity, opposition, and darkness. Life has some of those moments for us, and occasionally they come just as we are approaching an important decision or a significant step in our life.
…. “If it was right when you prayed about it and trusted it and lived for it, it is right now. Don’t give up when the pressure mounts. You can find an apartment. You can win over your mother-in-law. You can sell your harmonica and therein fund one more meal. It’s been done before. Don’t give in. Certainly don’t give in to that being who is bent on the destruction of your happiness. He wants everyone to be miserable like unto himself. Face your doubts. Master your fears. “Cast not away therefore your confidence.” Stay the course and see the beauty of life unfold for you.” - Awesome talk!!! “Cast Not Away Therefore Your Confidence” JEFFREY R.
