I have a monthly assignment to teach a lesson to our Women's Group at our church. Our women's group is called the Relief Society. As a Relief Society we work to make sure the other ladies and families in our area have the help they need in their lives, whether that be physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. This week in our meeting, we discussed a talk that was given by Taylor G. Godoy in our church's world wide General Conference in April 2018, entitled "One More Day."

In this talk, Elder Godoy asks us what we would do if we had just one more day to live. This has been on my mind for days. What would I do? How would I spend just one last day? I would definitely spend it with my family. I think I would pay the closest attention to my little ones, hug more, forget the nagging, laugh and reminisce as much as possible. Definitely put down my phone, except to communicate with other loved ones.  I would pray by myself and with my family, and want to share my deepest feelings with those I love. I wouldn't want to have regrets for not achieving certain goals, or loving those around me the best I could. One day just wouldn't be enough. There is still so much I want to do with my life and for the people in it.  But where do I even begin??

At the end of the talk was a quote by President Howard W. Hunter:

“Mend a quarrel. Seek out a forgotten friend. Dismiss suspicion and replace it with trust. … Give a soft answer. Encourage youth. Manifest your loyalty in word and deed. Keep a promise. Forgo a grudge. Forgive an enemy. Apologize. Try to understand. Examine your demands on others. Think first of someone else. Be kind. Be gentle. Laugh a little more. Express your gratitude. Welcome a stranger. Gladden the heart of a child. … Speak your love and then speak it again”

Isn't that wonderful?? One of my friends commented that she kept this quote in her scriptures and would read over it every morning. As she would do one of the things on this list, she would write the date and sometimes the name of the person it related to. I love that! Isn't that a beautiful thing to have on your mind through the day?

I just finished my one week fast from social media and it was super hard at first. But it freed up so much time, and freed my mind to be thinking about other things. It made me realize I need to make changes in a lot of other areas in my life, especially being more present with my children. By the end of the week, I was hesitant to even get back on. I need to make some big adjustments in what I'm focusing on in my life. I've decided to follow my friend's example, and wrote this quote in my journal this morning, and also saved it to the pictures on my phone. If I can even work on one of these things per day for a month, I'm sure there will be incredible changes in my personal life, and also in my family. Won't that be powerful?

Who wants to join me?!
