Show Notes:
Jamie’s Thoughts on Hosting and Air BNB:
Lock up valuables (like in the master closet)
Jamie loves getting paid to clean her own house
Air BNB has insurance policy that covers damage to your property
Things replaced in your home can be tax write offs
Check with your home insurance to cover extra if needed
Packing Tips:
pack early
use packing cubes - each cube has one outfit and one set of pjs, then put dirty clothes in the packing cube so it’s easier for laundry later
when you fly, put a daily packing cube in each back in case your luggage gets lost
Jamie likes the large cubes for winter weather and the smaller cubes for summer or socks and underwear
Always throw and extra set of socks and underwear for each of the kids in your suitcast
Booking Your Trip- Where do you start?
Jamie has plans for multiple locations they may end up, and depending on the flight availability, they go from there
Usually she would say, start on your flights
Sometimes being spontaneous and planning as you go is even more fun. You can figure it out in the hotel room the night before
Travel Tips:
When you’re stranded at the airport, head to the bookstore and read books to the kids
When kids get toys from birthday parties or happy meals, put them immediately in their travel backpacks when you get home so they have something new and fun to play with
Work sheets and travel diaries in between every movie they watch
Keep a toddler busy by washing their hands a lot in the bathroom
You can take crazy things on the plane- like a vacuum!
Anything Frozen can get through security- freeze your kids’ meal or milk and use it up when you get through
Security is picky about food, so put all your food and snacks in one back in a reusable grocery bag. Also put your wipes in there because they always get flagged
Plan extra time for them to go through your food bag
Make travel part of the vacation- use the wait times for playing games
Put your phone away and enjoy that quality time
Bring a cup that has a lid on it so you can get a drink for your kids when they need it
Always have food and snacks so no one gets hangry
Use melatonin at bedtime or on a red eye flight when you are crossing time zones
National Parks are free when you have a 4th grader, and grandma get a national park pass for life for only $80. You all go free if grandma is with you
You can use your hair straightener to iron shirts
