Cinnamon Rolls - to die for!!
I had an epic mom fail at the end of filming the videos below. I asked one of my kids to bring in the crystal butter dish (that belonged to my deceased grandmother) when we were cleaning up. My sweet kiddo tried to go the extra mile, and also carry all the other items at the same time. As luck would have it, the dish was dropped and shattered into a thousand pieces. I got upset and the child ran off crying to their room. Once the glass was all cleaned up (immediate clean up with lots of tiny kids around is essential!!), I had some major apologizing to do. People are definitely more important than things. And even though I know this from the bottom of my heart- sometimes, I forget in the heat of the moment. So learn from my lesson- don't harp on the help, or carry the butter dish in yourself. ;)
I hope you enjoy this cinnamon roll recipe as much as we do. It’s one of our most asked for recipes! They are spectacular right out of the oven!!

Cinnamon Rolls
Bread Dough (Use our homemade roll recipe here!! It’s AMAZING!!)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 TBSP cinnamon
raisins & nuts (optional)
Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
Start out with some bread dough. I always use the same dough that I use to make my dinner rolls. The cinnamon rolls come out amazing.
Roll out your dough till it's about 1- 1.5 inches thick. Spread the butter all over the top. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. Lastly, sprinkle cinnamon all over it. Roll them up into a big long tube. (See YouTube Short HERE and videos below to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.) Next take a bit of thread or dental floss and cut the dough tube into circles. Place on a greased pan. (See below how even a 9 year old can do this!)
Preheat the oven to 375. Bake 15-20 minutes. Mine bake perfect at 17 minutes, but every oven is different.
While the cinnamon rolls are baking, mix up your glaze. I just stir the ingredients all together with a fork.
When the cinnamon rolls are done cooking, I let them cool for about 5 minutes before putting the glaze on. These are also amazing with cream cheese frosting. I do the glaze more often because they are more portable without needed refrigeration.

I though it would be easiest to show you a little video of how to do this. So, normally for a nice uniform cinnamon roll, I would use a rolling pin. But I was in a bit of a rush, so I did it by hand. I filmed it out on my front porch for lighting purposes, and you can see the kids are super anxious to join in. Here is a very real look into our lives!!
