Show Notes:
“I don’t believe you are born a morning person or not, because I did think that before…I hated the morning, I always told myself I was a night owl and the mornings were so hard. But you have to watch how you talk to yourself. I totally believe anyone can become a morning person. It’s totally possible! You can do it! And I’d love to help you get there.” – Brittan Pack
How do you get up in the morning?
What you say to yourself is very important around sleep times.
Use some morning mantras such as: “I’m awake, I’m awake, I’m awake!”
Also do some mantras at night before bed: “I’m going to bed, I’m getting enough sleep…I’m going to wake up nice and refreshed, this is going to be good”.
Preparing at night helps the morning go smoother,
“The more I have prepared at night, the easier it is to wake up in the morning. I make sure all my workout clothes are all set out, so all I have to do is pick them up and go change….If I’m going to work, I make sure my work clothes are out, and make sure my lunch is packed…The less you have to do in the morning, the more you can prepare at night, the easier it is.” – Brittan Pack
5 Things Brittan Likes to Include in her Morning Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Scripture Study/Conference Talks
3. Journal time – gratitude, affirmations
4. To do list – give yourself grace on this one
5. Workout
How do I know what time I should be getting up in the morning?
Brittan likes to “reverse engineer” to figure out what time she needs to get up in order to get her routine in. She looks at what time she needs to leave in the morning (or begin something at home), and works backwards in time.
For example, if she has to work at 7am, she would calculate the time she needs for a 30 min work out, a 30 min shower (and get ready time), 15 minute study time and then know she needs to get up at 5:45am. If there are other things she wanted in her routine, she’d get up earlier than that.
If you are just starting or know you don’t have enough time to get all of that done before you need to go in the morning, you can condense your morning routine. For example: 5 minutes of prayer, 5 minutes of prayer, etc.
Trying to start a big morning routine all at once can lead to overwhelm. Brittan has a 5 Day Mini Morning Challenge for her clients where you just wake up 15 minutes earlier and add one thing into your routine.
Something very important to remember:
“There is a time and a season. If you are pregnant or you have a newborn (trying to do all these things) is not the time…There is definitely a time and a season in your life.”
