Show Notes:
Connect through creativity. You don’t have to be an artist or spend a lot of money. Here are some ideas:
Have your child teach you to do something. This will help them learn sequencing and it’s bonding. Some easy things you could have your child teach you would be making a peanut butter sandwich, or teaching you how to draw a picture of the family.
Make silly movies together. Kids love seeing themselves on screen!
Make something to give to somebody
Build something magical such as a fairy garden or a fort
Dealing with discouragement:
Know your worth.
“You can be creative and produce all these amazing things, but at the end of the day, what you’re producing doesn’t mean you’re any greater or better than the person you were earlier. It’s wonderful and it fills you, but you are worthy just as you are. You don’t have to be producing these things to be the phenomenal woman that you were this morning. You are still that person whether you are creative or not.” -Jil
Adaptability
“You do have to work. You do have to choose to put yourselves in situations to have joy, to create habits that provide joy, to keep moving forward amidst discouragement. That’s why we use the word “habitual” to talk about it. The reality that if we want joy to be this deep abiding undercurrent, piece of our lives, you do have to but forth the effort and it’s worth it.”
