"It is your greatest moment. Thank goodness- this is a miracle! Yay! We have this liver- all is well! And it is coming on the heels of someone where it's probably the worst possible moment of their life, where they've lost this loved one tragically and unexpectedly, usually." - Becky Jardine

"Running is my daily dose of anti-depressant wellness. I would make the time to get up and exercise and go for a run before I went into the hospital. And I was diligent about it because I felt so much better and it's okay to give self care. It helped me be able to then go face whatever was happening." - Becky Jardine

"As a mom you bend over backwards to try to establish some normalcy for your kids. At first I tried really hard to be everywhere at once. Like if my kid had a field trip, I tried to be there. I remember going back and forth from the hospital, trying to do both- this was right after James' surgery. And you just can't do it all. You can't be everywhere at once....
"I learned I need to take care of myself, too. A lot of the time I would let his sisters stay the night with him at the hospital, and I would go home and sleep in my own bed, recharge and let my kids see my face. There's only so much you can pawn them off on other people.....
"I've learned a lot as a caregiver that you need to take care of yourself, too. Or you will be spread thin."
